BOHEMIA, NY – Nov. 6, 2018 – Nearly 300 flexographers assembled at FTA’s Fall Conference 2018 in Cleveland, OH, from Oct. 29-31. The rock-and-roll themed event, “Taking Care of Business,” succeeded in delivering relevant industry information and multiple networking opportunities.
Kevin Bourquin of Cyber Graphics was the program chair for the event, overseeing an agenda consisting of eight technical sessions. Taking place in the city where rock and roll was born, each session title paid homage to musicians inducted into Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A total of 64 tabletop exhibitors presenting their forward-thinking technologies and solutions were visited during Monday and Tuesday’s evening receptions, as well as breaks between sessions.
Over the course of three days, attendees heard detailed statistics on the label and snack food markets, learned about the top 10 most important workflow efficiencies, discovered ways to make pressrooms more competitive, and got an in-depth look into the characteristics, control and capability of color. Other topics discussed were communication breakdowns that occur between brand owner and printer, well-known finger-pointing scenarios and how to avoid them, and modern color management technologies, their applications and feature sets. A panel discussion featured a discussion about overcoming generation gaps in the workplace and the event wrapped up with a detailed look at ink transfer from the eyes of the anilox roll, plate and prepress department.
Sponsors of Fall Conference 2018 included lunch sponsor Anderson & Vreeland Inc, hotel keycard sponsor Flexo Wash, lanyard sponsor Harper Corporation of America, welcome remarks by Kodak, mobile app sponsor Koenig & Bauer Flexotecnica, and a rock-and-roll themed wooden guitar USB drive sponsored by FTA’s Technical Education Services Team.
