SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA—Correct-Touch Graphic Arts (CTGA) customer Western Shield Label Co saw a need to invest in new plate making equipment that would allow it to improve productivity by increasing speed and efficiency at its facility. It eventually decided on the purchase of new state-of-the-art equipment from Esko, the CDI Crystal 4835. CTGA worked closely with Western Shield every step of the way from initial consultation to installation of the new equipment.
Mike Ornelas, director of procurement and costing at Western Shield, had this to say about purchasing new equipment through CTGA: “As we began to consider investing in new equipment, we knew we needed larger and faster plate making equipment than we were currently using. Our existing equipment created a bottleneck in our production, and was increasing waste on plate material and contributing to more press downtime. With the new Esko Crystal series equipment we purchased from CTGA, we’ve been able to solve all of those issues almost immediately, and simultaneously increase our capacity while reducing our cycle time.
“Correct-Touch Graphic Arts has been a long-time partner of ours for several years. CTGA provided prepress information and feedback on new flexographic technologies that will help Western Shield streamline our print process, allowing us to keep a competitive edge. CTGA continues to be our strong partner, bringing valued added, cutting-edge products and information to our business. We appreciate their knowledge and added value that they provide.”
“Western Shield’s commitment to producing a high quality product in a timely, competitive, and efficient manner makes their choice of the CDI Crystal 4835 a natural fit,” said Derrick Moreno, western region technical sales at CTGA. “Everyone knows that in today’s business environment, choosing the right vendors has never been more important. We at CTGA appreciate the trust Western Shield has put in us.”
