The new electric lift On-a-Roll Lifter

MONTGOMERYVILLE, PA—At Labelexpo Americas 2018, Sept. 25 to 27 in Rosemont, IL, Foster will introduce a new electric lift On-a-Roll Lifter Narrow Web, as well as three new sizes of the Futura Safety Flexo Plate Cutter Series 2, specifically for narrow web printers.

Foster’s new On-a-Roll Lifter Narrow Web electric lifting for label printers and converters is a motorized lifter for quick, safe positioning and loading of narrow web rolls. User-friendly operation avoids costly and dangerous handling mistakes that damage media. One operator can easily lift and lower rolls as heavy as 440-lbs (200 kg) and diameters as great as 31.5-in (80 cm).

Large media rolls used with narrow and wide web presses and converters can be difficult for operators to handle in a label printing, converting, or packaging plant. The new Foster On-a-Roll Lifter Narrow Web dramatically reduces the effort required of operators to quickly and easily load, unload and maneuver heavy rolls in the warehouse and on the shop floor.

Keencut’s Futura Safety Flexo Series 2 Plate Cutter eliminates the task of hand cutting plates, and is meant to reduce the risk of hand injuries, re-makes and bad cuts. The Series-2 cutter new sightline strip is meant to decrease cutting errors due to better visualization of the plate cut mark. It has a 5-degree undercut to give tighter joins when the plate is mounted onto the cylinder. No gap and less breakage can save time and money.

The three new sizes are specifically for narrow web printers:

Andy White of Pollard Banknote Limited in Winnipeg, Canada says “Our internal cost is approximately $100/plate. I estimate a time reduction of 30 seconds per plate. A decrease in cutting errors by approximately 10 percent due to better visualization of the plate cut mark position, via the site line. This ensures we don’t have to order a backup plate for our full bleed but cut plates. It has reduced the number of plate issues on press by 5 percent while improving safety.”
