SEARCY, AR–Nearly four years ago—June 2020–Bryce Corporation and Entergy Solutions—the local power provider–engaged in a collaborative and years-long Continuous Energy Improvement (CEI) initiative. It focused on changes that would reduce energy consumption with minimal capital investment.
Bryce used monthly scorecards to communicate energy savings and to track progress relative to the energy reduction plan. Team members attended workshops with other Entergy Arkansas customers to learn more about energy conservation and to share best practices.
By the end of 2023, Bryce had taken numerous steps to conserve energy through low and no-cost energy saving changes. Additionally, it invested capital dollars toward several energy improvement projects, including CoolSaver air conditioning tune-ups, LED lighting retrofits, air compressor replacements, a compressed air leak detection system, and HVAC and chiller replacements. The total energy savings of those projects reflect the printer’s commitment to sustainable development goals.
“Bryce is a leader in packaging innovation with a rich history of customer collaboration and joint development. Through CEI, Entergy Solutions and Bryce were able to identify sustainable solutions to conserve energy.” said Andy Pratt, SVP. Efforts did not go unrecognized. On Jan. 31, 2024, Bryce was recognized by Entergy Solutions for participation in Entergy’s incentive program over the past 4 years. Awarded dollars were reinvested in Bryce facilities as part of the energy reduction plan. Additionally, on Feb. 14, 2024, Bryce was awarded 2nd place in the 2023 Energy Champion of the Year Awards, presented by Entergy Solutions.
Bryce continues to invest in its Searcy plant. In April 2022, it announced a five-year strategic growth plan that included an $80 million investment in the campus. As part of that plan, Bryce built and opened a new manufacturing plant in January 2024, thus adding more jobs to the local economy.
