ST. PAUL, MN—BASF was honored with the 2017 3M Supplier of the Year Award for Technology & Innovation in recognition of the company’s contribution to improving 3M’s competitiveness.
This year, 3M recognized 16 suppliers—among thousands in its global supply base—for world-class performance in providing products and/or services. These suppliers were identified and rated based on strategic spending, contract compliance, actions taken to improve 3M’s relevance and overall supplier performance (quality, delivery, responsiveness, cost, technology roadmaps). An awards ceremony was held Oct. 3 at the 3M Innovation Center.
“3M is globally known throughout BASF as a strategic customer, and we are honored to be recognized as 3M’s Supplier of the Year for Technology & Innovation,” said Alan Weinstein, BASF global key account manager and customer network leader for 3M. “This is a great achievement and is the result of BASF’s successful engagement with 3M’s diverse technology network, which was instrumental in creating a sustainable project pipeline.”
Peter Eckes, executive vice president, BASF, said. “This award represents the common mindset across both companies and strong cooperation between our global R&D organizations. We will continue to work together in support of innovative ideas that will help us rapidly bring new products to market and accelerate growth.”
“Supplier collaboration is critical to supply chain success,” said Debora Fronczak, vice president, 3M Strategic Sourcing. “We are fortunate to work with great suppliers who are committed to fostering a relationship with 3M. These partnerships help us to serve our customers with innovative and valuable solutions. It’s important that we recognize our most outstanding suppliers, and that’s what this award is all about.”
