EDNN MPS EF SYMJET hybrid pressHOOGEVEEN, The Netherlands—Label printer EDNN (Etiketten Drukkerij Noord Nederland) based in Hoogeveen, The Netherlands is the first Dutch company to invest in a MPS Systems EF SYMJET hybrid press, according to MPS. Their new, recently installed innovative digital/flexo all-in-one printing press with inline finishing adds extreme flexibility and very short turnaround times to their label production capabilities, reports MPS.

To date, EDNN has only specialized in flexo presses for label printing jobs, however, the company has experienced an increased demand for smaller sized jobs and variable data. Vincent Belksma, general manager at EDNN, is confident their purchase of the EF SYMJET is a strategic addition to their machine park and future.

“Hybrid printing is the future of label printing, and with the EF SYMJET hybrid press, we can combine digital technology with flexo printing, as well as the finishing—all in one pass,” said Belksma. “We are extremely excited to offer the ultimate in flexibility, and our customers will appreciate the increased level of service with this truly integrated solution.”

The sale was led by Arnaud Fleuren, area sales manager at MPS Systems. Fleuren commented: “With their new MPS EF SYMJET hybrid press, EDNN can enter new markets that digital label printing brings such as personalization and shorter print jobs, while offering enhanced benefits of flexo such as PMS colors, metallic shades (gold/silver), delam/relam blackmarks on backing paper, cold foil and spot varnish. It really combines the best of both worlds in a future-proof solution.”

Introduced to the market at Labelexpo Europe in 2015, the EF SYMJET combines the fully automated MPS EF flexo platform and an integrated Domino N610i digital UV inkjet label press. The automated flexo/converting system and proven digital UV inkjet system can be combined and used integrated inline or separately to work offline.

EDNN’s new EF SYMJET press features flexo units to print PMS colors, black marks, varnish and cold foil for a glossy, metallic silver or gold effect. The press also contains a turner bar on the rail and a die cut unit.

Proximity to MPS with headquarters in Arnhem, The Netherlands was another advantage for EDNN. “There’s no question. MPS makes high-quality presses, and combined with the inkjet experience of Domino, we can print perfect quality—especially on shorter runs,” concluded Belksma.
