GURNEE, IL—Domino continues to innovate and provide label printers even more choices in the world of digital printing, and is pleased to announce a new video illustrating the hybrid solution with OEM partner CEI (Converting Equipment International).
The CEI BossJet powered by Domino combines flexo, integrated with the Domino N610i 7-color digital UV inkjet, to provide label printers maximum flexibility and a wide range of printing capabilities. “It takes conventional flexo, combines it with digital, so everything is one and done. This is like a 10-color press, without the length of a 10-color press. This is a game-changer and it makes printing fun again,” says Simon Gross, CEO of CEI.
The CEI BossJet powered by Domino includes multiple flexo stations for spot colors; tintings for foils; laminates; over-varnishes; cold foil; integrated with CMYKOV + W digital printing, and produces finished labels using semi-rotary or full-rotary diecutting or sheeting in a single pass. This hybrid solution can be configured and customized for the needs of the label printer and a touchscreen provides operation for the entire machine.
Curtis McQuade, COO of CEI says “The hybrid really bridges the gap between pure digital and pure analog, and you get the repeatability and consistency. So you get the same results today, tomorrow, next month, in six months, etc.”
And the productivity and throughput are key as well. “We are able to come over with faster copy changes, faster turnovers, faster job changeovers, and come out with more product at the end of the day. That’s huge,” Simon adds.
The Domino N610i 7-color digital UV inkjet label press runs at a minimum 164 fpm, and up to 246 fpm. Print resolution is 600 by 600 native dpi, the expanded gamut (EG) achieves more than 90 percent of the Pantone range, and the white has an opacity greater than 70 percent. Domino N610i is a proven digital UV inkjet label press that delivers the highest digital productivity, the best digital UV inkjet quality, the most consistent print results, and is a simple operating model.
With anything successful, it usually is achieved because of the people, products and processes. “What I see here is the support mechanism that we work together very well. Domino has fantastically qualified people who are always making sure that the customer is taken care of,” says Simon. “We were a roll-handling/finishing company who decided to partner with digital inkjet. And Domino has been dynamite. The N610i integrated with the CEI press… this has been an incredible partnership,” adds McQuade.
