BOHEMIA, NY—FTA’s upcoming Fall Technical Conference—part of its 65th anniversary celebration and taking place October 9-11 in Louisville, KY—will showcase an exciting, must-see print demonstration project at the center of its three-day agenda, bookended by presentations covering workforce productivity, product quality and accurate color reproduction.
The project perfectly captures Fall Technical Conference’s theme of “Doing More with Less” by utilizing The Optimal Method—a groundbreaking color calibration technique—and featuring digitally formulated spot colors with expanded gamut. Each attendee will receive their own print sample to compare dozens of spot colors built with both 7-color and CMYK. On stage, industry experts will walk through the project from start to finish, highlighting its cost savings, waste reduction and efficiency improvements.
“Imagine an inkroom with only seven drums, instead of hundreds of jugs for specific spot colors. Or how much press time could be saved by formulating colors during prepress instead of press-side,” said Joe Tuccitto, FTA director of education. “The print project at Fall Technical Conference makes these a reality, and we can’t wait to share the results.”
Before attendees dive into the project, they’ll hear from expanded gamut pioneers Mark Samworth, who will review its history and principles, as well as Kariahlyn Lindsey and Johnny Dye of Accredo Packaging, a printer that implemented expanded gamut years ago.
Rounding out the conference agenda are presentations on boosting productivity, fostering leadership at all organization levels, high-level calibration techniques, color communication resources and tools, methods to control print production, and each of the three 2023 FTA Technical Innovation Award recipients. Following the final presentation on Wednesday, printer/converters will have the chance to win a prize package valued at nearly $6,000.
Away from the conference stage, attendees have two afternoons to see package printing technologies focused on efficiency and productivity inside INFOFLEX at Fall Technical Conference, where they can connect with exhibitors from every piece of the production workflow, receive one-on-one insights and find solutions to do more with less.
