PAINESVILLE, OHAvery Dennison Performance Tapes extended its acrylic foam bonding (AFB) portfolio with the release of the 94 Series product line.

The new 94 Series AFB heat-activated tapes are engineered to deliver the high holding power required for rubber extrusion bonding in industrial applications. The new line also features an easy release liner to aid in removal during application. These products are offered in full web, spool wound or level wound formats to increase flexibility for converters and their customers.

“Rubber extruders and OEMs are actively seeking alternatives to their current bonding solutions for extruded rubber applications,” said Scott Krusinski, application engineer at Avery Dennison Performance Tapes. “With this new high-performance tape product, we are delivering on their needs by offering a lower cost option without compromising performance. We are pleased with performance data on the 94 Series AFB tape.”

The new product delivers savings over adhesive tapes with similar bonding performance used in the marketplace today and also provides advantages compared to alternate attachment techniques such as pins, channels, wire carriers and liquids, according to the company. With tape, OEMs’ component manufacturers do not have to deal with the holes required for pins or add extra weight to the assembly as with channels and wire carriers. Compared to liquids, tape provides a more uniform application of adhesive.

The Avery Dennison AFB portfolio includes pressure-sensitive tapes that feature excellent bonding to a broad range of substrates, high temperature resistance and exceptional durability. These capabilities enable AFB tapes to be used across a wide range of component assembly, mounting and fixation applications.

The tapes are designed for a variety of applications, including aerospace, appliance, automotive, recreational vehicles, building and construction, electronics, print and packaging, and other transportation applications.
