GREEN BAY, WI—Green Bay-based Rol-Tec has purchased Axis Machine Co, and the Axis operation will remain in Green Bay.

Axis Machine is a high precision grinding company for metal rollers and machine parts used in flexographic printing, paper making, industrial, and coating operations. Chrome, steel, tungsten and other high-precision rollers are used by many of the same manufacturers that both Axis and Rol-Tec serve.

“Axis Machine has been a longtime valued supplier to Rol-Tec and is widely recognized as the highest quality precision grinding company in the region,” Matt Umentum, president of Rol-Tec, said in a statement announcing the deal.

Axis will operate as a division of Rol-Tec and will remain in their existing 20,000 sq. ft. facility only one block away from Rol-Tec’s primary plant and headquarters in Green Bay.

Five jobs have been saved to continue production, but Umentum said he anticipates adding up to 10 additional jobs within the next 12 months.

“It’s an odd time to purchase a company, but we have been working on the acquisition for quite some time,” according to Umentum. “Many of our customers are switching to make the critical PPEs to stem the Coronavirus pandemic. This acquisition allows us to more efficiently service these customers and to help keep their operations going,”

“Axis Machine has been known as the leader for this type of work for years. The most important assets are the people; it takes years to become an expert,” Umentum said. “Manufacturers are seeking suppliers that can handle all of their needs in a given product category. The Axis purchase helps Rol-Tec complete a comprehensive product offering of precision rollers and parts to critical OEM’s and manufacturers throughout the world”.

Axis Machine Co has more than 20 years of experience in OD, ID, cylindrical and centerless grinding and has equipment to precision grind rollers over 20-ft. in length.

Rol-Tec is a manufacturer of rubber and cast urethane roll coverings, roller machining services, tungsten carbide roller coatings, urethane molded parts and laser-engraved rubber coverings used in converting, printing, and other industrial applications. Rol-Tec’s products are sold to customers throughout the world.
