BOHEMIA, NY—FTA has announced the newest member of the FTA Hall of Fame. Greg Collins, who gave his attention, his energy and his love to flexography, the industry that surrounds it and its Association, is the 58th flexographer to join its most illustrious group.

The induction was announced during the FTA Awards Presentation on April 22, which kicked off the first of three days of Virtual FORUM 2020.

An FTA supporter since the premiere edition of Flexographic Image Reproduction Specifications & Tolerances (FIRST ), Greg’s well-known preparedness and engineering background were instrumental in building out systems and processes the Association continues to use. Chief among them: the inception of the FORUM Oversight Committee to successfully iterate on the annual event with each passing year. His composure and measured guidance were essential as a member of the FTA Board of Directors and FFTA Board of Trustees, and during his tenure as Board of Directors Chair.

“He was the ‘right time, right place, right person’ to be sitting in the Chair position,” said FTA President Mark Cisternino. “Even today, we’re still reaping the benefits of some of the decisions Greg made 10 years ago.”

Throughout Greg’s 26-year career at C-P Flexible Packaging, he was eager to stand at the edge of flexography’s capabilities, look past its boundaries and see what else could be possible. With his willingness to experiment and trial new technologies, he found a kindred spirit in now-fellow Hall of Famer Mark Mazur, who reflected on Greg as “my mentor” throughout their decades of friendship.

“I worked for DuPont and they paid my salary, but I felt like something bigger than being a plate supplier thanks to Greg,” said Mazur. “The job—and I think any job—is so much more meaningful when you have someone like him.”
