WILMINGTON, DEDuPont Advanced Printing (DuPont) announced that five of its scientists were recognized with the prestigious American Chemical Society’s (ACS) Heroes of Chemistry Award for their discovery and development of DuPont Cyrel EASY. The DuPont scientists are Adrian Lungu, Robert Blomquist, Mark Hackler, Violeta Lungu and Raj Subramanian.

Heroes of Chemistry is an annual award sponsored by the American Chemical Society that recognizes the role industrial chemical scientists and companies play in improving human welfare through commercial innovations and products.

“I am proud to lead a team of innovators pushing the boundaries of science in service of our customers and society,” said Alexa Dembek, chief technology and sustainability officer for DuPont. “This prestigious recognition for our people both validates their contributions to advancing science and demonstrates the broader industry’s recognition of DuPont as a leader in bringing essential innovation to market.”

Cyrel EASY is an advanced flexographic printing plate technology platform. The photopolymer chemistry that constitutes the basis of the technology simplifies the plate making workflow and delivers outstanding print results. Cyrel EASY is part of an ongoing effort to drive advancement in the flexographic printing industry by improving print quality, consistency, sustainability and productivity.

Cyrel EASY plate technology builds flat top dot capability directly into the plates, enabling printing on a wide variety of substrates and surfaces, with high ink transfer, better highlights and improved color saturation. The capability addresses the expectations of consumers and customers for innovative, beautiful packaging and printing, according to DuPont.

“The 2019 ACS Heroes of Chemistry have demonstrated an exceptional degree of creativity and technical achievement in developing successful commercial products that improve the lives of people worldwide. The advances from DuPont benefit both patients and consumers and once again shine a spotlight on the chemical sciences as a driving force of innovation,” said Bonnie A. Charpentier, Ph.D., ACS president.

The 2019 Heroes of Chemistry awards ceremony will take place Sunday, Aug. 25, in San Diego.
