SADDLE BROOK, NJ—Unilux, a world leader in the design and manufacture of surface inspection lighting, has just been announced as a finalist for the 2018 Sapphire Specialty Design Award for their industry-first strobes with user-friendly controls.
“We are thrilled to have our work recognized by such a prominent organization in LED technology,” said Matt Runo, VP engineering for Unilux. “This nomination further supports our belief in the importance of user-friendly controls to the overall effectiveness of inspection strobes.”
New Smart Assist controls are meant to make it even easier to adjust settings so that an inspector can view fine detail in any high-speed process as if it’s standing still. Advanced configurations like Cross Light Inspection for surface quality or the ability to view standard and UV-visible inks on the same line are easily installed. Users can quickly move through critical settings like brightness and duration using full text prompts in various languages, reducing setup time.
“Technology advances are keeping stroboscopic inspection relevant as a highly-efficient yet effective way to monitor surface and print quality,” said Mike Simonis, president of Unilux. “With Smart Assist, we can leverage the full power of LEDs to help our customers see even more while simplifying day-to-day operation.”
Unilux inspection lights use the stroboscopic effect to freeze images of sections of webs moving at full production speed, making the smallest of defects clearly visible. This is meant to enable operators to use their knowledge of the product and printing process to determine the cause of the defect, take appropriate action to fix the problem or stop expensive, value-added processes and reduce waste.
