Foundation of FTA today announces that the newly updated and expanded In-Plant EHS Self-Assessment for Flexographic Printers is now available. This straightforward and informative checklist is designed to help flexographic printers assess their present in-plant environmental, health and safety (EHS) status and material efficiency activities; and identify opportunities to reduce waste and protect employees.
For flexographic printers who are just beginning to track plant activities, this self-assessment serves as a preliminary diagnostic tool. All printers should use this tool on an on-going basis to document progress and sustained improvement. It is purposely formatted in a binder so that the sections can be removed and copied for subsequent assessments. It can also be used in obtaining SGP Printer certification.
Chapters cover all areas of a flexo facility, including: General Maintenance, Computers, Product Design, Film Processing, Platemaking, Ink Delivery, Press Area, Finishing, Chemical Handling, Waste Water, Oxidizers, Shipping & Receiving and Facility Exterior. In many cases, the applicable federal regulation is indicated. The appendices provide links to additional resources on the topics covered in the assessment.
“Many members have asked for this updated version to better track their EHS and sustainability efforts. With the assistance of more than a dozen industry experts, we have made this document as comprehensive as possible,” comments FTA Director, Doreen M. Monteleone.
The In-Plant EHS Self-Assessment can be purchased through the FTAStore for $50.00 for FTA Members and $100.00 for non-members. For additional information, contact Doreen Monteleone at 631-737-6020 ext. 30.
