February 6, 2013 – Judging in Flexographic Technical Association’s 2013 Excellence in Flexography Awards competition was completed last week; and after 517 entries were evaluated on two scales—degree of difficulty and level of execution—102 pieces of printed packaging garnered prizes.
Results are slated to be unveiled at a gala awards banquet set for Sunday, April 28 at FTA’s Annual Forum in San Diego, CA. Following presentation of the honors, the 2013 Excellence in Flexography Awards Gallery will take its place on the floor of FTA’s INFO*FLEX Exhibition, set for the San Diego Convention Center, April 29-30.
At Forum itself, one complete technical session is being devoted to the Excellence in Flexography Awards. It is set for Monday, April 29 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Session Chairs Steve Mullins, Exopack, the Awards Committee chair, and Mark Coffman, Dixie Graphics, a committee member, will shed light on the award-winning work, how it was produced, what technologies were embraced and how and why everything came together to culminate in the judges selecting it to rank among the best flexographically printed work to be produced in 2012. The session, entitled “Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner,” in a nod to stand-out performance will focus on “Best of Show” honorees.
Incorporated into the presentation will be a collection of helpful hints on how aspiring award winners can select the jobs to enter; utilize critiques from this year’s judging to enhance performance, collect the correct number of samples, provide the necessary technical data, submit entries throughout the year, etc. etc.
The session is being billed as one that attendees won’t want to miss at an event themed, “Right Here, Right Now!”
